Russia's decision to turn off the taps to its oil transit pipeline through Belarus, thereby severing oil supplies to Europe, was "unacceptable," German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said. Merkel, whose country currently holds the presidency of the European Union, added that cutting supplies without prior consultation destroyed trust.
